The wedding was wonderful
September 24th, 2009So now we are all calming down after the big event last Saturday of the wedding of our son Kyle, and Angie his new bride. There were about 90 people there and fun was had by all. Mario surpassed himself with cooking for everyone and getting it down the road to the town hall where the reception was. We had filet mignon with bearnaise sauce, chicken ‘coq au vin’, mousaka made by me with westport Island lamb and Kyle’s own grown egg plant and potatoes. Then there was Kyle’s salad and various other vegetables. Foe dessert Mario and I made Pavlova, key lime pie and apple crumble. Later we came up to the barn at the Inn for wedding cake and dancing.

The Farnsworth Museum &
September 10th, 2009While visiting the midcoast Maine areas one of the big attractions is to go to the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland. Some of our guests were recently there and they said there were some terrific exhibitions. I was there in the spring and try to go at least once a year. The museum itself is really lovely and beautifully kept and well run. Right next to Rockland is Camden which has the Maine Fare going on this coming weekend, a treat for food lovers.

Fondue cooking lesson
August 29th, 2009Last week chef Mario gave a cooking lesson to 3 ladies. They wanted to learn all about the different fondues so he taught them how to do cheese fondue, meat fondues consisiting of Chinese fondue and fondue Bourguignonne, and chocolate fondue. A good time was had by all especially the tasting and a glass of wine.

The organic farm
August 13th, 2009Finally we have warm dry weather and the gardens are doing great. The salad mix, which includes Kyle’s special spicy mustard greens, is amazing. Tomatoes are finally getting ripe in the green house as well as different squashes and other vegetable. The fresh eggs are to die for so come on down to the farm. Take a walk around the property, buy some produce or local crafts in the shop and then stay for dinner and enjoy one of Mario’s mouth watering meals. Better still, stay for a night or so and enjoy an extra glass of wine as you don’t have to drive home.

July 30th, 2009Farmer’s Markets
May 18th, 2009Our son Kyle is already back selling his fresh organic produce at the Bath farmer’s market. He is mainly selling a wonderful selection of salad greens as well as rhubarb right now. Not long and he will have other vegetables and will be starting other markets in the area. He plans to do four a week this season.
